New 2G > More pages, more content

Since it first appeared in 1997, 2G has made an international name for itself as a quality magazine of great prestige. Its careful selection of architects, rigorous editorial standards and thoughtful, attractive design are the basic ingredients that have contributed to 2G's global standing.

Building on this success, Spring 2011 will see the launch of a revamped 2G. Each issue will have an extra 32 pages (giving a total of 176 pp.), allowing for more in-depth analysis, as well as more information on featured works and projects, more illustrations, and more detailed data.

The structure of the publication, which has proved popular with readers, will remain unchanged: an introductory text or texts by critics of international renown, analysing and commenting on the buildings and projects featured in the central section; a central section with 15 to 20 works and projects; and a final section, called “nexus”, that presents other aspects of the architect’s thought and sources of inspiration, either through the architect’s own writing, or through a conversation with other architects and critics.

These changes will help 2G remain faithful to its spirit of going “beyond the obvious” (Manuel Aires Mateus), “never following fashions and always dealing with matters of substance” (Tadao Ando), “constantly questioning the architectural profession, where it’s going…” (Burkhalter Sumi Architekten) and “providing the readers with a sense of proximity and surprise with every visit to the buildings and projects featured” (Mansilla + Tuñón). All of which reflects what Toyo Ito has called “the great spirit of the publishing house”.
